Bronson OUTERWEAR US Air Force Type L-2 Flight Jacket

Introduced from 1946 to 1949, the L-2 is the masterpiece of the light flying jacket, used mainly in warm weather and summer. The L-2 was the successor of the A-2, which was to replace nylon as the main fabric from leather. The design is based on the B-15, removing the mouton shearling collar, replacing it with wool knit collars. The leather was replaced due to inconsistent sourcing and evolution of jet engine aircraft. The L-2 was only produced for a short span quickly replaced by the L-2A making it a rare jacket in the vintage industry.

Bronson L-2 Flight Jacket outer is made of double-yarn nylon with a water-repellent coating. The lining is a unique rayon/cotton blend fabric for a thick, silky feel and some warmth, similar to the original. The zippers are vintage CONMAR zippers from IDEAL. The main zipper and the sleeve zipper are copper oxide. The collar and cuff are from a wool blend(70% wool/ 30% acrylic), the cuffs are tubular and have are no-seam rib-knit cuff.
