These denim deck shorts are based on world War II US Navy deck dungaree pants. They feature wide legs with no seams on the outside. It has the advantage of being easy to put on and take off and quick removal in an accidental fall into the water. It was also convenient for sailors to roll up their trouser legs as they wiped the deck.
